BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #209 – A New Look!

Well I’m sure by now you’ve noticed that this blog has undergone some major plastic surgery. It was high time too. I think I’m one of those people that loses interest in things when they start to look a bit stale.  I need change.  At least, that’s the case where websites and Blogs are concerned.  BOYTOONS MAGAZINE was a bit uninspiring to me of late, and Fraser suggested that a new look for the site might rekindle my interest. As always, he was right.

You can expect things to continue to change over the next little while as Fraser and I add features and adjust stuff a little bit here and there. But for the most-part, I’m happy to say that I feel a renewed sense of interest in BOYTOONS MAGAZINE. It also helps that I took a wee break from it for a couple of months, and now feel like I have stuff I want to talk about again! LOL!

Stéphane STANDARD SCREEN wallpaper - 1280 x 1024

So to help us celebrate the new look of this blog, I whipped up a new illustration of my Clown Prince of Cock: Stéphane! And since I know how much you all love these, I turned him into a new wallpaper design for your desktops.  You might also like to know that I’ve resumed work on Stéphane’s Funhouse of Fornication #1, and while I have no release date set yet (because you can’t rush art! XD ) I am working on it and I hope to see it done and available next year.

Enjoy the new look, my friends. And thanks again for the support and enthusiasm. You guys are a blast and I’ll be bringing you more goodies here very shortly!

BIG Hugz + kisses, Patrick XOXOX

FAN ART by Astasia 666

Hello my friends…

I’ve been meaning to post these two gorgeous pieces of Class Comics fan art, buy the very talented Astasia 666 for a few weeks now. I find they are perfect for the season in their beautiful colors and style.

Lanor fan art by Astasia 666.

Astasia really did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of both Lanor and Devilhound, and of also stylizing them beautifully. Her style is so elegant and graceful, and I love the hand-painted look and feel of these two stunning pieces.  They’re truly exquisite. Hats off to Astasia… this is SUPERB WORK!!!! The color choices are sublime and there’s a real “ethereal” feel to both of the works that I love very much!  They both feel very “classical” in many respects. It’s really lovely and sensual all at once.

Devilhound fan art by Astasia 666.

Really beautiful work Astasia, thank you so very much! And to my pal Dinosaurprince, a HUGE thank you as well for making these happen and sending them my way. You guys know how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE receiving fan art of my characters, and Lanor and Devilhound were a truly welcome surprise.

Enjoy these lovely boys from Astasia, my friends, and stay tooned. The Halloween 2011 issue is coming up, and you are NOT gonna want to miss this one. HEH! HEH! HEH! See you soon!

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #210 – The Incredible MONKEYGOGO!

$

Hello Boys and Girls!

Before I post the Halloween 2011 issue, I want to talk to you about one of my favorite new obsessions: The gorgeous art of the verily talented MONKEYGOGO!

How I love Monkeygogo’s beautiful work! You know, I really have a thing for art that can be as playful and fun as it is sexy, and that is something I adore about Monkeygogo’s art. It’s a perfect blend of this. The boy’s got skillz!

Monkeygogo's super sexy interpretation of HE-MAN is dedicated to the Gay Comic Geek!

Monkeygogo draws the ever-sexy LION-O from THUNDERCATS!

Another aspect of Monkeygogo’s work that I find brilliant is how he creates several variants of an image. For example, if you check out his amazing TOP 10 Muscle Men series, you’ll be treated to several different versions of some really studly pop culture male heroes. Lion-O, He-Man (which he dedicates with love to the fabulous Gay Comic Geek) and Link from Zelda are just a few hunks Monkeygogo expertly takes on, but each one is portrayed in various stages of undress and arousal. SO SEXY… SO CREATIVE… and so very skillful! He even takes on LOCUS, and Good Lord, does he ever do a fantastic job drawing my Lean, Green, Sex Machine! Oh how I LOVE his interpretation of Locus!

Monkeygogo includes LOCUS as part of his TOP 10 FAVORITE MUSCLE MEN series.

Even though I’m quite sure most of you are familiar with Monkeygogo’s beautiful work, I simply HAD to talk about him today. And if you’re not familiar with Monkeygogo’s art, you’ll really love discovering it, so I will leave you to rush over to his Blog and explore to your heart’s content. But one thing is for use, this is another gifted artist who is well on his way to big things. Watching him (well, yeah the man in question as well as his art – ’cause he is mighty easy on the eyes too! LOL!) and his amazing and super sexy artwork is a true delight, one I look forward to enjoying for years to come!

Hugz + kisses, Patrick XOXOX

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #211 – Johnny M reviews GHOSTBOY and DIABLO #1

GHOSTBOY AND DIABLO #1 — a review by JOHNNY M.

If one thing is constant in the universe — any universe — it’s change. Nothing stays the same forever, and this is especially true when it comes to humanity. Hearts and minds can change on a whim, and often without explanation. Change is also at the heart of Ghostboy and Diablo #1.

At first glance, Ghostboy and Diablo may seem to be an unlikely combination. The very much gay Ghostboy and the presumably straight Diablo may have been one of the last couples that one would expect to find in the Class Comics universe. However, after Ghostboy’s personality took a slight turn for the harder after he had his body usurped by Daddy Longlegs, the two of them seem highly compatible. Even then, it was a huge surprise when their story in Boytoons Adventures #2 ended with a passionate kiss.

GHOSTBOY AND DIABLO #1 now available from Class Comics.

The two heroes do work well together, both in daring deeds and in romance. Their rapport is established very quickly in the pages of their first comic as a couple, and it seems entirely natural almost immediately. After breaking up with the much more flamboyant and occasionally flippant Naked Justice, Diablo’s more steady and steely personality seem like a better match for Ghostboy, and this is clear even in the mostly dialogue-free love scene in the middle of the book. This isn’t just sex: it’s passion.

What also brings the two together is the fact that both of them are not 100% out of the closet. Ghostboy’s never told his mother, and Diablo is just now starting to question his sexuality…and how to break the news to his wife. As in the lives of many gay men, the truth comes out in the most unexpected and unplanned ways. We’ve all had speeches prepared, worked our courage up to say “I’m gay” to our loved ones, often to have the whole thing backfire when we’re outed under much less controlled circumstances. Circumstances couldn’t be less controlled than what happens here.

Ghostboy and Diablo's relationship feels like a "First Love". Excerpt from Class Comics' GHOSTBOY and DIABLO #1.

Like in all Class Comics, there’s a strong degree of sympathy for the reader in the pages of this book. All of us have been in Ghostboy’s or Diablo’s shoes, at least when it comes to the proper time, place, and way to come out. Even though both Ghostboy and Diablo have both had relationships before, this feels like a first love for them both, and it has all the hallmarks of the beginnings of that first, heady relationship that most of us know. Sure, one of these guys can walk through walls and the other is literally a horny devil, but we can all see where they’re coming from.

Ghostboy and Diablo: Together at last!

The story isn’t the only great thing about the book, though. Jacob Mott does fantastic work here, giving Patrick Fillion’s story the same vivid immediacy that he did for the Naked Justice Beginnings series. Like those books, this title has a style a little less detailed than Patrick’s signature look, but it’s nonetheless compelling and eye-catching. It’s Disney-esque in all the best ways, from the curls on Ghostboy’s head to the literally tooth-shattering blow Diablo gives to a thug. It compliments the words beautifully and gives the book an exciting energy.

Hope you know a good dentist!

Patrick has also laid the seeds for what may prove to be one of his most interesting titles. The unusual combination of Ghostboy and Diablo, as well as the almost effortless chemistry that the characters seem to have, make their romance very intriguing. The revelations about Ghostboy’s past also spark a lot of questions that you’ll just be dying to have answered. There’s a lot going on under the surface here, and it’s going to be difficult to wait to see what happens.

Ghostboy and Diablo have effortless chemistry! Excerpt from Class Comics' Ghostboy and Diablo #1.

In the meantime, I plan on studying the full-page panel on page 11. What? It’s purely academic, I swear. It’s not just because it’s one of the hottest, most erotic pictures in the Class Comics universe ever. Why don’t you believe me?

Johnny M, October 2011.

Johnny M recently penned the six-part series of insightful essays, “Thursdays with Patrick”,  based upon the characters of the Class Comics Universe for the FANBOYS OF THE UNIVERSE website.  His recent JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS retrospective is not only inspired, but it will propel you back to your childhood with panache and flare. A million thank yous to ya Johnny for this wonderful review of GHOSTBOY and DIABLO #1! Smooches to you, my friend!  – Patrick XOXOX

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #212 – The HALLOWEEN issue!

Hello spooky Trick or Treaters!

It’s Halloween again, admittedly, one of my favorite times of year. Every October, I look forward to putting together my Halloween top 10 list for my spooktacular Halloween BTM issue… but this year, I thought I might do a little something different. I invite you all to celebrate the Halloween spirit with me!

CLASSIC HORROR!

A few weeks back, my good pal Dinosaurprince reminded me of my love of Classic Horror comics and magazines, such as Eerie, Terror Tales and of course, Witches’ Tales! Seems he stumbled upon a wonderful video over on You Tube that he was kind enough to send my way. The video in question actually takes illustrations from the covers of some of those very Classic Horror magazines and animates it – brilliantly I might add – to the tune of the Johnson-Smith Novelty Company “Horror Record”. This is a fantastic trip down memory lane, and I have to say that for me, it was a great way to kick off this year’s Halloween season. Check this out. It’s well worth sitting through the entire thing.

Some of us remember those old black and white magazines that scared the poop out of us as kids. My parents were quite clear: I wast NOT supposed to have copies of these magazines. I didn’t care! Like most kids, I had them anyway, secretly hiding them under my mattress and waiting until bedtime to read them. And then, the nightmares began! LOL! Of course as I got older, the Horror magazines under my mattress were replaced by porno magazines, but these Classic Horror gems always held a very special palace in my heart.

Classic Horror magazine covers! FRIGHTENING STUFF!

I couldn’t wait to share this year’s Halloween issue cover with you! It’s a liberal reinterpretation of the “Witches’ Tales” March 1972 cover. I replaced the helpless damsel with a helpless – and less clothed – young hunk. I employed some artistic license with the vampire and werewolf/hunchback characters to come up with this deliciously horrific and evil cover concoction. Yes, it’s violent… yes it’s frightening! Yes… it’s HALLOWEEN!

Being an adult now (most of the time at any rate), it also occurred to me that the covers to these Classic Horror magazines regularly perpetrated bloody violence against cowering, helpless women. So those of you who may find this year’s Halloween issue cover a tad… I dunno… “OUCH”… should keep in mind that sometimes, a role reversal is fair game. HA! HA! HA!

Thank you to Dinosaurprince for sending this link to me and for reminding me that these now rare and cherished magazines were a huge part of my Halloween dreams as a kid.

This year's BOYTOONS MAGAZINE HALLOWEEN issue cover was inspired by the cover of WITCHES' TALES, March 1972 issue cover.

ZOMBIES!

It doesn’t have to be Halloween for me to get excited about Zombies. They are my favorite fictional (fictional up to this point, anyhow… you just never know the way the world is going! Mwah-ha! Ha!) monsters and thanks to their recent comeback, now they even star in television’s number 1 show. Of course I am referring to AMC’s fantastic WALKING DEAD! Season 2 just started up, so be sure to tune in.

I love Zombies and seek them out in books, movies and video games like some rabid freak.  But can Zombies be sexy! Ewwww… I kinda don’t think so… and yet, BEHOLD the brand new ZOMBIE DILDO, fresh… or not so fresh… from the freaky minds of the Fleshlight folks! What can I tell you, there is something undeniably desirable about this rotted, decomposing, undead member. I swear, I want one only to keep it on my desk in my studio… because I dunno if I could actually bear the thought of uhm, playing with it. LOL!

The Fleshligh freaks "Zombie Dildo"! Get your decomposing member today!

The Fleshlight folks have thought of everything, and also offer up a lovely rotten Zombie vagina Fleshlight for those of you preferring the undead of the female gender! The sculpting on these things is brilliant, and actually incredibly artistic. They’re fantastic… and fantastically CREEPY!!! :D  The Zombie Dildo is part of the “Fleshlight Freaks” line or horrific dills, which also features an alien, drac, Frankenstein and cyborg model, all equally alluringly creepy!

If you still need proof that Zombies can be sexy, then have a look at this hunky walker, beautifully created, and attentively (and morbidly :D) detailed by the lovely and talented Caravaggia. Hey… don’t feel weird if you pop wood looking at this stud… you won’t be the first to do so. Erm… or so I’m told!

"Speeerrrm!" Is there such a thing as a Sexy Zombie? You be the judge! Art by Caravaggia.

WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!

Nothing scares the crud out of you more than a truly well crafted Horror Novel, and I LIVE to read these things, especially around Halloween. I just finished reading an incredible book entitled “OUTPOST” by Adam Baker, and I literally could not put it down. And believe me, if I get bored at any point during a book, to the fringes it goes, unfinished and forgotten. I almost cried when I finished Outpost… like saying goodbye to a great friend, that’s how sad I was that I’d finished it so quickly! LOL!

Any book that opens with the line… “Jane woke, stretched, and decided to kill herself” is coming home with me! OUTPOST is about the end of the world, and Baker’s spin on the demise of mankind is like nothing I’ve ever read before. I am a HUGE fan of post-apocalyptic horror novels… so believe me when I say, I’ve read a ton and this one is FRESH!

“They took the job to escape the world. They didn’t expect the world to end. Kasker Rampart: a derelict refinery platform moored in the Arctic Ocean. A skeleton crew of fifteen fight boredom and despair as they wait for a relief ship to take them home. But the world beyond their frozen wasteland has gone to hell. Cities lie ravaged by a global pandemic. One by one TV channels die, replaced by silent wavebands. The Rampart crew are marooned. They must survive the long Arctic winter, then make their way home alone. They battle starvation and hypothermia, unaware that the deadly contagion that has devastated the world is heading their way…”

"OUTPOST" written by Adam Baker. One of the most thrilling Horror books I've ever read!

What’s so bloody magnificent about this book is that Baker’s writing style is as stark and bold as the story he’s telling. I LOVE THIS MAN’S WRITING! You know how some authors are in love with the sound of their own pens? Not Baker. He gets to the point. Beautifully and skillfully so, without pretension. He writes for his reader, and his characters are superbly flawed, and yet undeniably real. You can’t help but to put yourself in their snowboots!

Fans of John Carpenter’s “The Thing” and of Zombie apocalypses (though Zombies aren’t what’s going on in this creatively-fresh page turner), READ THIS BOOK! If you love a compelling and frightening read that deals with the end of times, you will love “Outpost”. Mr. baker, if you read this, please oh please write more books soon! I believe I’m quite addicted to your writing!

HAUNTED HOUSES AND HALLOWEEN GHOST WALKS!

Getting into the Halloween spirit doesn’t just mean buying spooky books, decaying dildos or watching scary movies. In fact, one of my favorite Halloween activities is touring Halloween attractions. Fraser and I decided this year that we would go to the infamous DUNBAR HAUNTED HOUSE in Vancouver. All proceeds from the attraction are donated to local charities, and believe me when I tell you that the organizers of this event go ALL OUT and pull no punches!

The 7th Annual Dunbar Haunted House! Great, spooky fun for adult trick or treaters!

We met our 4 friends for dinner at a restaurant called “Transylvania”!!! I KID YOU NOT! How’s that for a Halloween theme. After dinner we headed to the warehouse district where the Halloween Haunted House attraction was set up. The line-up wasn’t too bad (as it was still several days before Halloween), and actually a lot of fun anyway, because there were zombies and killer clowns stalking people in the line!  I got a photo with a particularly gruesome zombie, and I don’t mind telling you, it’s a HORRIBLE photo of yours truly, so I must really love you guys to post this here! LOL! Special thanks to my lovely friend Maggie for snapping this hideous photo of me! Can you feel my fear, folks… or my many chins?!?! YIKES! LOL!

This could possibly be the very WORST photo of me, EVER... but what the Hell, I'm in the Halloween spirit so I choose to scare you with it! HA! HA! HA! And my Zombie pal was AMAZING!

The attraction itself was a blast. This year, it seemed that demented clowns were a big part of their theme (hence why I’m including my fan art of Shivers from the movie Fear of Clowns in this post!).

Shivers the Clown from the wicked film "Fear of Clowns"! Fan Art by Patrick Fillion.

Anyway, back to the haunted house… I don’t mind telling you I was the bravest of us 6! My friends Isabelle and Mickael practically wet themselves and kept screaming like 3 year old girls, but in their defense, it was all rather frightening. My poor Fraser screamed himself hoarse! LOL! Everything was super well set up… movie-quality props and the owner went all out. On top of things, you never knew what was not real, and what was actually a person underneath the makeup, ready to jump out at you and freak the crap out of you. A particularly disgusting chainsaw maniac chased us down a corridor… it was AWESOME! This place was “no children allowed” on account of how scary it was… So believe me when I tell you the level of horror was truly TOP NOTCH!

If you get the opportunity to check out a Halloween attraction in your area, I highly recommend it. As adults, we can’t really trick or treat any more, but we can still be big kids at heart, and these hunted house attractions are the perfect way to have a great time getting into the spirit of things!

HALLOWEEN ART BY THE BLOODY BUCKET LOAD!

Of course one of my favorite things about the Halloween season is all the sexy artwork it inspires. Creators of homo erotic art let their imaginations run wild around this time of year, and the results are perfectly spooky eye candy for all to feast upon!

Take a look at Cray‘s delicious werewolf hunk, you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. I love this image! So festive and sexy and HAWT! Imagine running into that gorgeous creature of the night on your way to a Halloween party! YUMMY! :D Beautiful work, Cray! Thanks so much for treating us to this hunky wolfboy!

A super sexy Werewolf hunk created by the very-talented Cray!

If you head on over to Dinosaurprince’s Kingdom, you’ll feast upon a whole slew of sexy Halloween-themed artwork featuring some of his studliest creations as illustrated by a veritable army of artists. In fact, Belvadar, my favorite of Dinosaurprince’s boys is heavily featured this year. He’s such a sexy character, I couldn’t help myself last year… I HAD to draw him myself!

Yours truly gets very inspired around Halloween. You may remember how I introduced Class Comics fans to JACKO THE HALLOWEENER last year? He’s back this year again, and this time he’s giving Ghostboy a Halloween night to remember.

This fun little animation created by a pirate... And I'm not talking about his Halloween costume, either!

Normally this STRIPSHOW episode would be released with the Class Comics Halloween newsletter, but I couldn’t wait for that. I had to share it with you today!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU ALL!

However you choose to celebrate Halloween, I wish you all a wonderfully memorable one. I hope you’ve enjoyed this year’s Halloween issue of BOYTOONS MAGAZINE, and I leave you tonight with a batch of wallpaper designs featuring this year’s cover artwork as well as some of my past Halloween artwork! Enjoy, dear friends, and Happy Halloween to you all!

BENT-CON is the convention for encouraging, celebrating and appreciating LGBT and LGBT-friendly comic-book artists, writers, creators, publishers, directors and producers, creating media targeted directly to LGBT audiences or as part of the larger realm of mainstream pop-culture as a whole.

Fraser and I will be there to meet and chat with fans, sell and sign comics, hand out Class Comics promo freebies and other fun stuff. We’re also gonna take part in some awesome panels and discussions, and I’ll even be one of the official judges for the Fanboys of the Universe sponsored Costume Catwalk contest.

My ALPHA FLIGHT fan art on the “COVERED” Blog!

Art should be inspiring! As a kid growing up, developing my own artistic skills, few inspired me more than the legendary John Byrne. Alpha Flight was (and the John Byrne classic run still is) one of my all-time favorite comic series. The characters are diverse and exciting, and beautifully designed in their elegant simplicity and attention to detail.

A few years back, I decided to re-interpret the now classic Alpha Flight #6 cover… well, re-imagine it a little I suppose. This was my way of thanking John Byrne for all of his extraordinary work and for showing my appreciation for Snowbird, who has ALWAYS been my favorite Alphan.

I recently came upon a terrific Blog called “COVERED: Artists re-interpreting comic covers”.  The Blog is run by Robert Goodin, a wonderful artist with a great love of comics.  He’s assembled an AMAZING collection of gorgeous re-imaginings of classic comic book covers by dozens and dozens of talented artists.

This Blog simply has to be seen to be believed.  There are some real gems in Robert’s collection.  Anyway, I just had to submit my Alpha Flight #6 cover to him, and couldn’t be more ecstatic to tell you that he added it to his Blog collection this morning.

Patrick Fillion's Alpha Flight #6 cover re-interpretation now on "Covered" Blog.

You guys ABSOLUTELY MUST check “COVERED” out. It’s so creative and fun, and seeing all that work by all those creative artists collected in one place is incredibly inspiring.  Thanks Robert for putting all of this together, and for adding my modest little cover to your collection.

Enjoy my friends. I know I sure did!

Cheers to all, Patrick XOXOX

PS — And just for the fun of it, here’s a little “variant” of my version of Alpha Flight #6′s cover… more closely resembling John Byrne’s classic masterpiece! Enjoy! :D

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #213 – RAPTURE #4… Behind the Scenes!

RAPTURE #4 is finally out and available from Class Comics, and I thought it would be a great deal of fun to give you good people a little behind the scenes glimpse at this very exciting book!

Why am I SO EXCITED about RAPTURE #4? Easy! It’s because this book marks three amazing CLASS COMICS firsts that are pretty damn memorable.

To begin with, the brilliant LOGAN draws ZAHN for the very first time in this issue. I was so thrilled when Logan agreed to take on a story for RAPTURE #4 that I wrote him a very special story called “The Altar of Szabarnak”. In this story, Zahn wants to communicate with the Vardan Spirit World. This leads him to meeting a strange little wizard named ZULLBA who informs him that to do this, he must commune with the mystical Altar of Szabarnak – an ancient artifact that requires Zahn’s sperm in order to come to life! Dontcha hate it when that happens?! LOL!

Unfinished art by LOGAN, from the RAPTURE #4 Zahn story, "The Altar of Szabarnak". RAPTURE #4 now available from Class Comics.

Completed art by LOGAN, from the RAPTURE #4 Zahn story, "The Altar of Szabarnak". RAPTURE #4 now available from Class Comics.

What’s so awesome about this story is that it permitted Logan to come up with the very unique looks of three amazing and incredibly sexy new barbarian characters; ROAN, LAKOZA and YTLA! Logan really ROCKED the design on these three Vardan Hunks, and they put Zahn through one Hell of a fuckfest!

Character concept designs for the RAPTURE #4 Zahn story, "The Altar of Szabarnak". Art by LOGAN.

The art in “Szabarnak” is absolutely superb, and it’s such a treat seeing the Son of Winter drawn in Logan’s style. Zahn is beautifully muscled and smooth, and more than up to the challenge of satisfying three hot and horny Barbarian spirits who want a piece of his ass. The colors Logan employed are truly beautiful as well, and give a nice “chilled” feel to the story. It’s a great piece, and I’m sure that fans will appreciate Logan’s fantastic take on Zahn and his new companions.

Secondly on RAPTURE #4, I had the chance to collaborate with an artist I have admired for a very long time. Of course I’m referring to the incredible SOTO, who illustrated a fresh new DEIMOS story I wrote for him, called “Deimos’ Inferno”.

Soto’s take on Deimos is brilliant. The Taro Demon is gruff, rugged, manly and completely hot. Soto’s art is itself beautifully moody and atmospheric, and this suits the story perfectly. In “inferno”, Deimos decides to try and take BOB by surprise by infiltrating Hell and attacking him where he least expects it… on his home turf. Naturally, not all goes Deimos’ way, and our hero’s plans are foiled by the demon HEMEC and his lackeys.

Soto created the looks for Hemec’s demonic pals and I did a truly superb job of it. The twin demons, GAUL and BILE are really wicked looking with their inversed snapped horns, tribal tats, and opposing eye-patches, while BELAGAUZ is just too monstrous for words!

I love this story because it finally shows a more submissive side to Deimos, who becomes the power bottom of the day for these four nasty demons. But don’t get too accustomed to Deimos’ submissive side… he’s soon on top of things again!

This story is wonderfully “Deimos” and I couldn’t be happier with Soto’s take on the character and the story. You’ll see for yourself just how rich and detailed this wonderful artists’ work really is.

Camili-Cat pencils from the story "Changes" in Class Comics' RAPTURE #4. Pencils by Patrick Fillion.

A completed Camili-Cat page from the story "Changes" in Class Comics' RAPTURE #4. Art by Patrick Fillion. Colors by Hernan Cabrera and Patrick Fillion.

And lastly, RAPTURE #4 features the very – and I do mean VERY (in fact I’ve received a number of very angry letters and hate mail about it) CONTROVERSIAL – Camili-Cat short story “CHANGES”, in print for the very first time. It’s a real pleasure seeing this Cam story on the printed page. I feel it’s such a turning point – a real defining chapter in his life. Seeing it in the pages of RAPTURE #4 just reminds me of how integral to the Class Comics Universe Camili-Cat really is. It’s a story I loved writing and one I truly enjoyed illustrating.

If you’re wondering WHY “Changes” is so controversial, then you don’t already know and I won’t spoil it for you. Suffice it to say that Cam gets an EXTREME new look, and some fans love it, some fans HATE IT… and probably also hate ME for making it happen… but you know, Cam needed a change… and this is a doozy!

The CONTROVERSIAL story "Camili-Cat: Changes" is in print for the very first time in the pages of Class Comics' RAPTURE #4.

On top of all of that, the wonderful HERNAN CABRERA and I once again worked together to bring Camili-Cat to colorific life in “Changes”, and RAPTURE #4 is beautifully lettered by the fabulous JOHNNY MURDOC! I tells ya, a TERRIFIC issue!

RAPTURE #4 is now shipping form Class Comics, and it’s available as a Printed Comic or as a Digital Comic, so you’re free to pick your poison. I will say this, the issue is one of my favorite installments of this series so far. I’m very pleased with and proud of all three stories. This book gave me the opportunity to work with some truly talented people, and for that I am truly grateful. This is why I make comics! LOL!

RAPTURE #4 is now available from CLASS COMICS!

Enjoy the book, my friends. It’s a WHOPPER! And stay tooned, I’m still preparing a MEGA FAN ART issue, and I’ll be posting some awesome BENT-CON photos and stuff when I get back from the Con in December.

Enjoy your weekend! SMOOCHES to all!  Patrick XOXOXO

In actuality, it frikkin’ HUGE!!!

This sucker is over 250 pages of some of the best comics and art ever to come out of Class Comics. Published by BRUNO GMUNDER, HEROES WITH HARDONS: THE BIG BOOK OF CLASS COMICS isn't just big... it's HUGE!

HEROES WITH HARDONS is printed on high quality gloss paper, and beautifully bound between two gorgeous hard covers.  Seriously, this book is nothing short of INCREDIBLE.

I’m just so proud of it.  This book symbolizes a major accomplishment for Class Comics.  It’s a true milestone; an homage to what Class as a company has created, inspired and what it’s capable of.  And to have it all published by BG makes me so proud. For me personally it says, “Way to go, Class Comics! These pages and your accomplishments are pop art worth celebrating!”

To everyone who had a hand in making this book a reality — from all the brilliant creators, to the wonderful folks at BG, to all of the awesome Class Comics Fans, my sincerest thanks.

This book is truly one for fans of Class Comics to put on their shelf, or a great way to introduce a friend to the thrilling world of Class Comics. AND it’s here just in time for the HOLIDAYS!! Because of it’s size, Class Comics won’t be selling this book directly, but you can get it from Amazon and other GLBT friendly bookstores.

Enjoy everyone, and thanks again for all the amazing years!

My time at BENT-CON 2011!

So I’ve been home from BENT-CON for almost two weeks now, and I don’t mind telling you that I am STILL BUZZED from my INCREDIBLE experience.

Both Fraser and I were on a natural high the entire weekend. The opportunity to meet some of our fans in person and talk with them – with YOU – about our comics and characters was so amazing to us. You really showed us just how appreciated our work is, and for that I cannot thank you enough.

Robert Fraser and Patrick Fillion of Class Comics at BENT-CON 2011.

We really felt that we don’t leave our studio often enough, and that we do in fact NEED to step out and partake in more events like BENT-CON so that we can meet more of our fans. Talking to the real people who love Class Comics has really helped us to identify the things we are doing correctly, the things we need to do more of, as well as some of the things we’ve done that haven’t worked quite as well. These revelations are invaluable as really help to give us a sense of direction for the future.

So again, thank you to all the fans that were able to come and see us in person, and to all the fans who supported us from afar. You know that you guys and gals make this the VERY BEST JOB ON THE PLANET for Fraser and I, and we just love creating our comics for you. You’re the BEST!

Robert Fraser, the writer of the hit comic series "The Initiation" was at BENT-CON 2011, signing comics for fans.

Another aspect of BENT-CON that both Fraser and I completely loved was getting to meet other queer creators. There were so many amazingly talented folks present at BENT-CON – people which I’ve spoken to via email for years – and we finally got to meet in person for the first time.

There are too many to name  here, but I can’t tell you how completely OVERJOYED I was to get the chance to meet folks like Sean Z, Jezza Smilez, Sean Platter, Belasco, JJ Kirby, William Tyler, Jon Macy, Joe Phillips, Brad Rader, Justin Hall, Jeff Jacklin, Michael Kirwan, Alex Woolfson,Wendi Pini, Steven H. Garica– and this impressive list goes on, and on, and on. (Apologies for not listing everyone here — a complete list of all creators and exhibitors is available on the BENT-CON website.) So many creative and inspirational people were present, and I LOVED that artists such as the fabulous Vishis and the wonderful Iceman Blue, who despite not being part of the exhibiting artists, took time out of their weekend to come and say hello to Fraser and I! SO VERY COOL!

Robert Fraser chatting with Class Comics fans at BENT-CON 2011.

After years of email communication and of mutual artistic appreciation, I FINALLY got to meet the incredible JOTTO!  What a pleasure it was getting to see some of his original artwork in the flesh, and to chat with him about his creative process and inspirations.  The man is as sweet as he is talented, and I don’t mind telling you that he treated me to a pile of prints of his gorgeous artwork. Again – BLISS!!!  LOL!

The weekend was like Christmas morning come early! LOL! I got to sample the wares of several creators, and it was so great exchanging comics and art. I do wish I’d had even more time to peruse everyone’s work… but time flew by so fast. However, I HAD to show you this AWESOME sketch that the incomparable BRAD RADER drew for me in my copy of his Vertigo book, “FOGTOWN”.  What a sweetheart! He signed the book for me and drew me this super hung, super sexy Black Hunk as a special treat!  LOL!  I love this!  It’s just one of the many wonderful moments that made BENT-CON so much fun for me.

The awesome BRAD RADER drew me a gorgeous black hunk with the BIGGEST WANG EVER!

The weekend’s panels were also terrific.  Fraser and I were invited as guest speakers on several of them, and we had a fantastic time speaking about our work and on our impression of Gay Erotic art, comics and queer publishing in general.

The Fanboys of the Universe costume contest was a BLAST!  Fans really put a lot of effort into their costumes, and speaking as one of the official judges, I can tell you that picking the winners was NO EASY TASK! Everyone who participated was TOP NOTCH and incredibly creative!

On a personal note, I was so THRILLED to finally get to meet my pal, the fabulous JOHNNY M in person for the very first time. Johnny was as amazing in person as I expected him to be, and more.  The opportunity to solidify such friendships, and renew existing ones was literally PRICELESS and so greatly appreciated.

Johnny M and Patrick Fillion in Amoeba Music, Los Angeles, the weekend of BENT-CON 2011.

I also truly enjoyed meeting emerging artists for the first time.  I got to see some wonderful new artwork and discover the talents of creators whose work I will enjoy watching grow and flourish. Choklit Daddy was one such artist.  Check out his blog for a look at his sexy toons!

So yeah – a great time to be sure! So many wonderful blessings in one all-too short weekend. Connecting with everyone was completely amazing, and being in beautiful Los Angeles was glorious.

As well as BENT-CON, our weekend in LA also brought Fraser and I another very special gift… but I’m reserving that news for down the road. Heh! Heh! Heh!  ;)

So again, thank you all so much – from the fans, to the fellow creators, to the wonderful folks – you all made BENT-CON 2011 such a HUGE success, and such an incredible experience for Fraser and I! :D  Now we’re looking forward to BENT-CON 2012! LOL!

What a treat to finally meet fellow queer comic book creators in person. Fraser and Patrick pose with the hunky Jezza Smilez!

If you’d like to see some more photos from our BENT-CON weekend, check out the official Class Comics BENT-CON report!  And for more info on BENT-CON and official recaps from the event, check out the official BENT-CON website.

And to my beloved readers, thank you as well for your kind words of support and encouragement. My Christmas issue is coming up, and I have a little something special planned for you all.

Much love and smooches all around!  Patrick! XOXOX

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #215 – HOTCHA WORKS!

What better way to start 2012 than with Hotcha’s incredible new website!  YES!  After many years of admiring Hotcha’s gorgeous and supremely sexy art via the Y!Gallery, you can now enjoy it on the official Hotcha website; HOTCHA WORKS!

The site’s lovely and clearly designed with ease of navigation in mind.  All the illustrations are presented in large, easy-to-drool-over sizes which really emphasize the beauty of Hotcha’s art.  Hotcha even takes the opportunity to treat us to some personal notes on most of the art, revealing what inspired him to draw them.  He turns us on further by providing some narratives and written context which set up some of the illustrations perfectly.  Clearly, Hotcha is an artist who loves to share his work and that’s good for us the fans, because the treats keep on coming.

Meet DRAKE, Hotcha's sexy signature character!

From his original characters like the ultra-fuckable Drake and his equally to die for counterparts, Ike and Eli, to his Dragonball fan art, his  interpretations of fellow artist Ephorox’s stable of studs, and even his stunning Class Comics fan art, Hotcha delivers the eye candy in his usual spectacular manner. HOTCHA WORKS does not disappoint, and most of Hotcha’s classic and recent pieces are there to be adored by us ravenous fans.

Hotcha draws Drake fucking the Hell outta Ephorox's sexy feline character, Tyon!

Now a couple of years ago, Hotcha was in Vancouver and Fraser and I got to meet up with him.  I absolutely love this boy!  He’s as sweet as he is talented, and the opportunity to chat with him in person was truly amazing.  He’s so down to Earth and talking erotic comics and art with him was a real blast.  His love of his craft is apparent, and his raw and unabashedly raunchy works are charged with an erotic power that you can’t help but admire.

Poor Drake can't take much more from this horribly horny cyclops!

But Hotcha’s work isn’t without context.  He’s careful to set up a back story for every image he creates, which is what I love most about him. That really charges his work with a palpable sense of sensuality that is hard to ignore.

So while the Holiday Season may be over, I personally consider HOTCHA WORKS as a Christmas present, one that I’ve been wanting for years, and one that I most certainly was NOT disappointed to finally receive.  And best of all, knowing how prolific this super talented artist is, I know it’s a gift that’s gonna keep on giving.

Do yourself a favor, and head on over to HOTCHA WORKS RIGHT NOW!  If you don’t already know Hotcha and his signature character Drake, you’re not gonna want to miss out a minute longer. And if you’re a long-time Hotcha fan, you’ll love revisiting Hotcha’s classic works, and discovering his latest offerings!

Ike gets it on with a sexy serene angel! Beautifully erotic art by HOTCHA!

Hello my friends. I hope everyone’s doing well!

Today, I want to talk to you about the Class Comics BIGGER PICTURE CAMPAIGN and CONTEST!

We’ve been talking about our comics and how they are often passed by as just porn. Well we’re sick and tired of it! We’ve decided that it’s time to take it to the streets and fight back! Hopefully you will support our cause!

Sure our Boytoons have big units… but they’re so much more than that!  They’re about falling in love for the first time. They’re about the hardships of coming out. They’re about adventure and escapism. They’re about self-discovery. They’re about being minorities. They’re about the celebration of being gay and embracing who they are with pride. They’re about you!

Now it’s one thing for us to say this, but what we really want is to have the world hear it from you!

Your challenge: Tell us how Class Comics has rocked your world!

Has a particular storyline ever rang true with you?
Does a particular character remind you of yourself?
Have you ever shared our comics with someone else and why?

Has one of our comics altered your life in some way?
Have we ever helped give you the courage to be yourself?
