Hello everyone!

I’ve missed you all!  It’s been a busy 2012 so far and I’ve been away for a little while. Great news — Fraser and I got married officially on the 16th of March, and we recently went away on a honeymoon-esque vacation!

I’m back now, and I have a lot planned for this blog, but first, I want to THANK everyone who voted for Class Comics in the 2012 Gaybies.  While Class Comics didn’t win this year, we’re SUPER PROUD of Michael Kirwan for winning “best Comic/Art Book” with his “Just so Horny” art book! CONGRATS Michael, you deserve it! :D

Yes, I’ve been pretty absent lately, and as a result, there’s a ton of stuff I’ve been meaning to post here.  It’s been piling up and today I figured was a good day to start getting my butt in gear and actually post some of this awesome stuff.

Hi All!

I may have spoken about my love of the classic Sci-Fi program SPACE: 1999 in the past.  I loved the show so much as a kid. I found it exciting and inspirational, and I still do today.

For a bit of fun, I “covered” the original Space:1999 #1 comic book cover, published in 1975 by Charlton Comics. Because an erotic artist can’t live from nudity alone, drawing Barbara Bain as Doctor Helena Russel, Martin Landau as Commander John Koenig and, my own special addition to the cover, the lovely Catherine Schell as the fabulous Maya was a great deal of fun, and a great way to “recharge” my batteries! :)

I hope you like my take on this classic cover… and just for fun, I’ve posted the original version drawn by Joe Staton. Enjoy my friends.

Hey Gang…

Here’s a fun little noggin’ scratcher for ya! A few days ago, a fan sent me an email with an attachment of the Dynamite Entertainment “LORD OF THE JUNGLE” #3 cover by the fantastic Lucio Parrillo.  I immediately understood why.  There are some striking similarities between Parrillo’s Lord of the Jungle cover and Class Comics’ ZAHN #2 cover.  The pose, the setting, even the color choices — all are strikingly similar.  Check it out!

Is the cover of Dynamite Entertainment's LORD OF THE JUNGLE #3 an homage to Class Comics' ZAHN #2 cover?

For the record, Zahn #2 came out  two years ahead of Lord of the Jungle #3.  Zahn #2 was released August 24, 2010. Lord of the Jungle #3 was released April 11, 2012.

I choose to see this as one of two things.  Either it’s a complete coincidence that these 2 covers are so alike… or it’s a wonderful homage to Class Comics on Dynamite’s and Parrillo’s part. Either way, the I think both covers are totally HOT and pretty darn awesome! LOL!

Hello Boys and Girls!

Every now and then I come across a new artist that blows me away with his talent, his concepts and the ease with which he creates. The fabulously talented EVO SAPIEN is such an artist.  He’s someone who seamlessly infuses a beautiful mixture of mainstream comic book flare with hot, cutting edge male erotica into his work . The results are pretty darn superb!

When you first look at his portfolio, you may get a sense that Evo has an appreciation for the late Michael Turner, comics (of course) as well as Japanese Animé art, and that’s absolutely not a bad thing because those are great inspirations to have. But Evo takes his inspirations and adeptly weaves in his own special touch, creating unique art in a wonderful style all his own, with powerfully potent results. There’s a very clean elegance to his work.  Evo’s well-rounded artistic ability allows him to create extremely accessible gay male erotica that has such a beautiful mainstream flare to it, you’d expect to be able to buy his work off any comic book rack. That’s something I truly love about his stuff – it effortlessly bridges the gap between mainstream and erotica!

Look at his illustration of Spidey giving it to the Human Torch. It could be the cover to an issue of Marvel Team-Up and the art easily measuring up to anything Marvel has put out. And if you love Evo’s take on Spidey (as I’m sure you do!), you’ll love his SHOOTERS comic, in which he pits a hopelessly outmatched Spidey against the incredibly horny Venom who wants nothing more that to bone his arch-nemesis in every way imaginable! It’s the wet dream cum true of every Spider-Man fan who’s ever fantasized about seeing their friendly neighborhood web-slinger getting down and dirty. Trust me, it’s FREAKIN’ HAWT!

Evo seems equally comfortable drawing Furry guys as he is drawing human dudes. In fact, his furry art is some of the most striking I’ve ever seen. It’s playful and sensual, and always drawn and colored with super skill.  Who’s a good dog? The hunk below sure is! ;)

And so, all of Evo’s beautiful Spider-Man art, his fabulous Furry work and of course his massive collection of scorchingly sexy male art made me absolutely want to work with him on some Class Comics projects. This is an artist who is as professional as he is talented, and our first project together was the STRIPSHOW episode “The Voodoo that you do”. Evo’s take on Ghostboy is wonderful, and his rendition of the Prick, a character that has been absent from recent Class Comics is truly fantastic. Part one is superb, but just wait until you see part 2 (and be sure you’re signed up to the Class Comics monthly newsletter — that’s where you’ll see it first!). Evo draws Diablo for the first time in part 2 and he looks absolutely delicious.  Just wait and see!

You know, I could go on and on about this artist that I love as a creator and as a new pal. His work is so lovely and always brings a big smile to my face and a big bulge to my pants! LOL! But again, why take it from me when you can see for yourselves. His website is absolutely brimming with stunning art, and Evo himself is really great at up-keeping his Blog entries, keeping us abreast of his latest projects and showing us the latest art he’s creating. I love that about him – so talented and so prolific. It’s a great combination in an artist.

So check out this artist who is so adept at drawing, coloring and conceiving of this amazingly sensual art. For my part, I promise you’ll see more of his work with Class Comics very soon. When someone is this gifted and this great to work with, I just can’t stay away. He does all this wonderful artwork, AND also reviews cool Gay interest and comic book stuff on his site as well. EVO SAPIEN’s talents are diverse and I’m a big fan for life!

NOTE: Possible Small PROMETHEUS Spoilers ahead! 

If you’re like me, you’re a massive ALIEN film franchise fan, and learning that Ridley Scott was making PROMETHEUS, a “possible” prequel to ALIEN sent you squealing in fits of fanboy delight.  I skipped out on work the day that PROMETHEUS opened so that I could see it as soon as I possibly could. Did I love the film? YES! Without a doubt! Did I think it was a perfect film? Well, not necessarily, but in all honesty, I walked into that cinema with expectations the size of the Nostromo. So while it was bound to be hard for it to live up to that, the first hour of the film made me feel like I was actually a part of the crew of the PROMETHEUS, on this insane expedition to LV-223.  It left me absolutely spellbound.

But this is not a review of the film. Fraser and I agreed that the ”Engineers” were possibly some of the sexiest aliens we’d ever seen in mainstream science fiction. The opening sequence in which we’re introduced to the “sacrificial Engineer” left both Fraser and I incredibly inspired. We both agreed that I simply HAD to draw an Engineer. This fan art is the result.

I opted for simple cel shading because it offers such a striking contrast on my Engineer’s skin and of course I HAD to do two different versions — one in a loincloth, like in the film, and one completely nude.

His physiology completely fascinated me. In the film, he’s very buff, and while he’s also closely human, you can definitely see some anatomical variations that differ greatly from a human being. I played with those, and it’s pretty obvious in my nude variant that this Engineer is very definitely NOT of this Earth… and yet, close enough that we might be distant relatives.

Surprisingly, the background was a ton of fun to draw. I wanted it feeling cold and primordial, the way the setting felt in the film.  Many, MANY layers later, I felt relatively pleased with the result.

Whether you enjoyed PROMETHEUS or not, I do hope you’ll enjoy my take on the Engineer. I for one loved the film and hope to see these tall, pale alien hunks in future movies to come. Thank you Ridley Scott! :D

Happy Canada Day, everyone!

To celebrate,  I thought I’d share some gorgeous new Diablo and Camili-Cat fan art created by the amzingly talented Inmomakuro.  These pieces are sooooo beautiful, and I think you’ll agree with me that he captured the essence of the characters perfectly.

Inmomakuro’s take on Diablo is very sensual, and I love that he opted to make him uncut for this image — so it’s sort of a sexy cross between Diablo and his son, Incubus. A very sexy touch!

And his Camili-Cat is no less sexy. OMG — that butt, that chest!  Cam looks mighty fiiiine wading around in that crystal blue water. This one’s got 2 beautiful versions — 1 in color and 1 in black and white.

Hello my friends…

I trust you’ve all been well!  How appropriate that BOYTOONS MAGAZINE should be back from the dead, on this day of all days…  HALLOWEEN!  MWAH-HA! HA! HA! Yes, I’ve been away from this blog for several months now, and while there are several important and legitimate reasons for this, I simply could NOT miss doing a Halloween issue.

The BOYTOONS MAGAZINE HALLOWEEN ISSUE has always been one of my favorite to put together each year. I absolutely LOVE Halloween, and writing about all the things I find personally horrifically satisfying is something I always look forward to. So let’s jump right back in, shall we! LOL!

I want to start by making a very personal, and important announcement. Last year I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the incredible CLIVE BARKER in person. While at Bent-Con, my partner Fraser and I were invited to come see him at his home. You all know that NIGHTBREED is one of my all-time favorite films. I love the book and source material CABAL, and must have read it at least a dozen times. So, suffice it to say that meeting Mr. Barker was more than a dream come true… in fact all this time after the fact, thinking of it still leaves me buzzed. I should point out that Mr. Barker is a big fan of Class Comics, and he had some incredibly wonderful and deeply touching things to say about what Class Comics and its group of creators have accomplished. As I said — still buzzed!

Anyway, one thing led to another, and now Mr. Barker and I are collaborating on a VERY SPECIAL comic project together. I know you’ll hate me for this, but I don’t want to reveal anything further at this point. Please bear with me, there is still much work to be done, and I just want to leave it at that for now. What I can tell is that working with Mr. Barker is a BLAST, and I’m finding myself with the opportunity to draw characters I’ve LOVED for a very, VERY long time. I can’t even begin to tell you how OVER THE MOON I am with this. Mr. Barker is one of my heroes and working with him and his creations is quite frankly one of the greatest joys of my artistic career. I promise to keep you all posted on the project we’re working on together in the months to come. In the meantime, here’s an illustration of Devil Lude, Leroy Gomm and Kinsky of the Nightbreed. I drew this image for Mr. Barker as a gift of thanks and appreciation for receiving Fraser and I into his home last December. I couldn’t be prouder to say that the original and a color print of this piece hang framed in Mr. Barker’s studio.

Next on my Halloween list (not that this is particularly Halloweeny, but I had to mention it…), I want to talk about that always-impressive God of Gay Erotic Comics; LOGAN! It may surprise you to know that despite the fact that Logan and I have known each other for several years and that we’ve collaborated on the Deimos series and other comic projects on a number of occasions, I had up till now, never heard his voice before. Yup — we do everything via email. LOL! This morning I was treated to an awesome 2-part interview with Logan on Dr. Dick’s Sex Advice Blog. Dr. Dick interviewed Logan and asked him a ton of really great and intelligent questions, and Logan gave very insightful and thoughtful answers. It was a pure delight hearing Logan talk about his work and his artistic process. If you’re a Logan fan, you MUST listen to the interview. It’s a fabulous podcast…  And Logan has one HELL of a sexy voice! XD Part One is here, and Part Two is here. 

Logan is currently hard at work on PORKY #4 and #5… and if you LOVE his illustration of Deimos which I posted above, you’ll be thrilled to learn that he is also preparing to take on DEIMOS #3. Naturally, I couldn’t be more excited… so I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on that as well.

Speaking of artists I admire and love to work with, the spectacular JACOB MOTT and I collaborated this year on the Class Comics Halloween STRIPSHOW episode. Seems that Jacko the Halloweener was in the mood for a little something… “exotic” this year, so he decided to have a go at Camili-Cat! LOL!  Cam of course doesn’t really know what Halloween is. He’s an alien after all… But the action between he and Jacko is MIGHTY HAWT!  Not surprising really, since everything that Jacob does is scorching, erotic perfection. This strip was especially fun for both of us since Jacob had never worked with Cam before. I couldn’t be more thrilled with his depiction of my beloved Felinoid… and I love the way he captured Cam’s sexy new look. So naturally, I simply HAVE GOT to post the episode here for all of you to enjoy.  It’s just TOO FABULOUS not to!

I tell ya, the Class Comics Halloween Special is a FANTASTIC way to celebrate Halloween, and Fraser and I both want to thank each and every artist and creator who submitted artwork for this smashing 2-volume Meaty from the bottom of our black, black hearts! American Horror Story Asylum… a perfectly FRIGHTENING delight!! Now on FX!

It wouldn’t be a BTM Halloween issue if I didn’t gush about a few horror themed films or television shows worth seeing on Halloween night! Dare I say that I love this season of FX’s deliciously sacrilegious American Horror Story even MORE than I loved the last one. This year’s Asylum is creepy/cool beyond the telling of it, and if Jessica Lang’s hatefully twisted/hypocritical Sister Jude doesn’t scare the crap outta you, the exorcisms and bloody faces definitely WILL! 

But quite by accident, Fraser and I discovered and rented a film called Red Lights. The movie stars Sigourney Weaver, Robert DeNiro and Cillian Murphy and it’s captivating from start to finish. A real gem of a find, more thriller than horror, but smart, brilliantly acted and chillingly compelling… we couldn’t tear our eyes away from it.

“Two investigators of paranormal hoaxes, the veteran Dr. Margaret Matheson and her young assistant, Tom Buckley, study the most varied metaphysical phenomena with the aim of proving their fraudulent origin. Simon Silver, a legendary blind psychic, reappears after an enigmatic absence of 30 years to become the greatest international challenge for both orthodox science and professional skeptics. Tom starts to develop an intense obsession with Silver, whose magnetism becomes stronger with each new manifestation of inexplicable events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, tension mounts, and his worldview is threatened to its core.”

Red Lights is brilliant, and a perfectly thrilling Halloween affair you will be glad you popped into your Blu Ray or DVD Player.

Hello boys and girls…

I’m often reminded that while deeply satisfying on a personal and professional level, drawing comics for a living can be quite demanding. You can even reach a point where you feel exhausted, and quite frankly drained of your… uhm… creative juices.

When that happens, I like to take what I call artistic SANITY BREAKS! This means that I’ll indulge myself and whatever the Hell I want for a short period of time. You’ve seen my Queens of Sci-Fi… or my Marvel fan art… All sanity breaks! These breaks re-focus my energy. I feel centered again because these little artistic interludes help me to re-learn that I LOVE TO DRAW… and that is greatly important. There’s NO PRESSURE to them whatsoever. It’s all about fun, fun, FUN!!!

Having worked like a dog on Camili-cat: Love Lost — not to mention a whole bunch of other Class-related projects — I thought I would take a Sanity Break and draw everyone’s favorite Eternian hero, the sexy, buff and blonde HE-MAN!

Aaaaaahhhhh… very therapeutic indeed. I had such a great time drawing, and especially coloring He-Man, making his big sexy muscles look all shiny and wet. And unveiling the mythical monster that lives under his loincloth was a hoot too. This is a character I’ve loved since I was a kid… and I’ve been DYING to draw him. So glad I finally did!

I’ve found my center again, and more than that — now I’m hungry for my own characters again! I’m ready to get back on the Class Comics drawing wagon. Hello boys and girls…

Well, the artistic SANITY BREAKS continue! This time I thought I would draw a different kind of Felinoid… LOL! I give you LION-O of the THUNDERCATS! I sorta drew this one for my Fraser since he LOVES the Thundercats, particularly Lion-O SOOOOO MUCH … but of course, I had to share him with the rest of you too!

For the nude version, I chose to make him uncut since I figured they probably didn’t practice circumcision on Thundera! LOL!  But I thought he should be wearing his boots just to add a little splash of color. The costumed version is underwear and belt only. I couldn’t bear to cover up his muscular chest! LOL!  In any case, I hope you will enjoy my take on this classic character… and the wallpaper designs I put together for ya! More from me shortly, gang!

Happy Holidays, dear friends.

It’s been a year, hasn’t it? Yes, we’ve all been busy little bees, taking life one day at a time, slowly heading toward yet another doomsday prophecy that would not come to pass — GOOD — and now, once again, it’s that glorious time of year: CHRISTMAS!

I had such good intentions this year for the Christmas issue of Boytoons Magazine. I thought perhaps I would return to my original Christmas issue format of drafting up a Top Ten wish list. Or maybe I’d do a whole bunch of illustrations, Holiday-style to accompany the issue. But you know what they say about good intentions, don’t you? Yeah, they tend to pave the road to the North Pole around this time of year, as we all get busier and nuttier with the family gatherings and social obligations.

So instead of , I’ll just take this opportunity to wish you all an Amazing and Beautiful Holiday Season, and of course, a very joyous and prosperous 2013. And while I may not have a top ten list to share this Holiday, I can share a little Class Comics fun with all of you. A lot of you have told me how much you enjoy my Holiday illustration each year, and that you love the Wallpaper Designs I always put together for you. Well, Fraser and I thought it might be nice to collect all of the past Holiday wallpaper designs I’ve made, and offer them up in one convenient downloadable pack. Also, I want to share with you some beautiful Holiday artwork that my dear friends Dinosaurprince, Leon de Leon and Caravaggia created this season featuring my centaur, STRIDER! Just look at this breathtaking illustration. Leon’s take on Strider is exquisite, and Caravaggia’s beautiful painted backdrop has such a “classical Christmas” feel to it. This image was commissioned by Dinosaurprince and is his sexy brainchild, and I figured you’d all appreciate it very much, given how popular Strider is.

The Boytoons of the Class Comics Universe hope you “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in the December 2012 STRIPSHOW episode. Based upon a concept by Patrick Fillion, illustrated by Jacob Mott.

And last but not least, I thought it might be fun to post this year and last year’s Class Comics December STRIPSHOW episodes.  Last year’s was written by yours truly and illustrated by the wonderful Logan. This year’s is based on a concept I came up and illustrated by the amazing Jacob Mott. So much Holiday sexiness — I do hope you’ll enjoy these both.

JON MACY’s complete epic “FEARFUL HUNTER” is being collected into one beautiful volume by Northwest Press. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this! I encourage you all to check out the campaign and contribute.

The collected edition will arrive as a deluxe hardcover and digital edition (in May) and a paperback edition (in August) containing the entire epic story, plus additional tales by a number of other artists. This will be a mighty collection clocking in at nearly 320 pages.

Check it out — Jon Macy is brilliant and his work is completely engrossing! Enjoy!!
